What are you?
I'll be damned, if I know what flower this is. All I know is it's beautiful and grows in my back garden.

Eraly morning boatin'
This place has been quiet for a while. This is because a lot of pictures I have taken lately are more of the documentary rather than artistic kind. This one was taken on xdream 2008 Karksi-Nuia night stage. Between 4 and 5 AM, mist coming from the lake and there they are: on the track for more than 6 hours, 5 more hours to go.

Mr. Maasik
You don't know this man? You don't know Estonian punk music, then. "oh yes, I drank vodka. But now I'm sitting on the back seat of my merc ..."

Helloween
Andi Deris, lead singer of Helloween on main stage during the Rabarock festival in Järvakandi, Estonia. More to come from the event as the the ears still ring and those memory cards need to be uploaded, but let me tell you this: it was awesome. HUGE, and I mean HUGE thanks to the Rabarock team and, personally, Ingrid Peek, for this opportunity.

Splash II
What's on the picture? A wave hitting rocks on Venice Beach, CA. A classic example of "crooked horizon, too much noise". No idea why I like it but I do. Apparently, some other people do as well. Great! I'm not a looner!

Angel
Taken on Venice Beach. That's a crazy place all right but she just appeared out of nowhere on that yellow bike and was gone almost before I got to take a picture. A true angel.

Hiding
Spotted this gal just left to the path and crouched. Managed to take this shot through dense vegetation before she panicked. Technically not perfect but conveys the thrill of stalking pretty good.

City in Danger
Playing around with some presets in Lightroom. Gives the otherwise quite bland image that something, I think.

Pied Wagtail
My first half-decent bird picture ever, I think. Taken on my recent sunrise trip to a nearby swamp to see whether the grouse' would be playing.

Thief
That nuthatch is really worthy its name. The guy kept coming back for peanuts that were actually there for the tits.
The saint I
The Karli bridge is fabulous, especially in the evening. It's strange to think that most of the original figures are tucked away somewhere and the ones we see are the replicas...

Haliaetus albicilla
What do you do when you drive along a dirt track with your brand new camera you barely know and out of nowhere not one, but _two_ white-tailed eagles appear _very low_ in the sky in front of you? If you are anything like me, you almost crash, drop half the gear, manage a crappy shot like this and swear silently for two weeks.

Temporary Fire III
There has been a song from JMKE haunting me for ages. In English, it has an ending (Estonian version here: http://punk.bumpclub.ee/punktex/J.M.K.E/grin_tex.html#tuli) that goes like this:
Temporary fire and temporary honor
For the fallen heroes
The picture is taken in the Maarjamäe Memorial Ensemble that was erect to contain a Eternal Fire in remembrance of soviet soldiers fallen in WWII. The fire is now extinct.

Flight
A find from the days in Milan. Despite the horrible stomach virus, these were nice days. Especially looking from waaaay over here.

Amsterdam Spring
Saw this re-used bicycle when we decided we had time for a short hop to Amsterdam on our layover to LA.

Forgotten
It always breaks my heart to see old trusty bicycles left alone like this. You wouldn't do that to your horse, would you?

Yellow
Yes I know I've been quiet for a while. Huge backlog of unprocessed photos (most of which not worth uploading), a Company Meeting to cover etc. etc.
This is what I hope to be first of the photos I will upload from our holiday in Geneva and Milan. Taken in Geneva, looking north along the lake.

This is Bondi a young English Bulldog happily chewing away on my darn good Doc Martens boots. Thanks to Triin for supplying the model!

Objects of my Life: SR-71
Read about it in the book "Skunk works". The story goes that after developing the U2 surveillance plane, the people behind it realized that at some point Russians are going to develop a way to shoot it down. And then they would need to build better plane and the Russians are going to develop a better weapon and so forth. The only way to succeed, they decided, was not to take one but _two_ steps at a time. So they went and built a plane that is still to surpassed.
The attitude behind it and the way it was built in record time have always impressed me deeply.
Got this model from the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC.
Objects of my life: Canon EOS-10D
Since March 2003, it has been a source of much enjoyment and a constant companion. Now, we must part. It is for sale. The camera is slightly worn and has done ~20k shots but in perfect working condition. In addition you will get:
- two spare batteries
- two chargers (don't ask)
- a Sensor Swab sensor cleaning set
I'll throw in a old but working Tamron 70-300 4-5.6 (with a Hoya UV filter) if you should be interested. The price is reasonable, I want 3000 Estonians (or the highest bid) for the lot.
Oh, what did I get as a replacement? Look here
